Etologia koni

Tak sobie pomyślałam, że trafiam na sporo wartościowych badań, bądź ciekawych informacji dotyczących zachowania, uczenia się, historii bądź psychiki koni, które niektórych by myślę zainteresowały, a nie ma ich gdzie wrzucać.
Chciałam więc zacząć ten wątek i wrzucać regularnie różne ciekawostki naukowe, raporty z badań i wnioski wysnuwane przez etologów i innych naukowców zajmujących się badaniem koniowatych. Niestety literatura będzie w większości anglojęzyczna.

Mam nadzieje, że nie tylko mnie interesują takie zagadnienia.  Jak traficie na coś ciekawego dzielcie się  :kwiatek:

Bardzo ciekawy temat. Mnie bardzo interesują zaburzenia psychiczne u koni, może ktoś spotkał się z literatura na ten temat ?

film nienaukowy może ,moim zdaniem dyskusyjny, ideologiczny w pewnym sensie i kontrowersyjny w niektórych kwestiach , jednak zmuszający do refleksji nad swoim podejściem .

Zaczęłam się zastanawiać dlaczego mam tak dwa różne konie - z jednej strony konia zdecydowanego, z którym mam wspaniałą relację budowaną od jej 2 roku życia , a drugiej konia starszego którego mam od kilku miesięcy - zupełnie zobojętniałego i nieszukającego kontaktu, wyraźnie z "wypranym" charakterem i bierną postawą na otaczający ją świat . Wiadomo że konie są różne , jednak czuję że wpływ przeszłości pozostawił niestety rysę na jej psychice - kto wie może i do końca .
Mam nadzieję że uda mi się odzyskać choć część konia w koniu z biegiem czasu .

Bardzo ciekawy temat. Mnie bardzo interesują zaburzenia psychiczne u koni, może ktoś spotkał się z literatura na ten temat ?


Jest trochę badań w tym kierunku.
Pierwsze lepsze badanie jakie mi wyszukało w uczelnianej bazie: "Towards an Ethological Animal Model of Depression? A Study on Horses."

To abstrakt z tego badania:
"Background: Recent reviews question current animal models of depression and emphasise the need for ethological models of mood disorders based on animals living under natural conditions. Domestic horses encounter chronic stress, including potential stress at work, which can induce behavioural disorders (e.g. ''apathy''😉. Our pioneering study evaluated the potential of domestic horses in their usual environment to become an ethological model of depression by testing this models' face validity (i.e. behavioural similarity with descriptions of human depressive states). Methodology/Principal Findings: We observed the spontaneous behaviour of 59 working horses in their home environment, focusing on immobility bouts of apparent unresponsiveness when horses displayed an atypical posture (termed withdrawn hereafter), evaluated their responsiveness to their environment and their anxiety levels, and analysed cortisol levels. Twenty-four percent of the horses presented the withdrawn posture, also characterized by gaze, head and ears fixity, a profile that suggests a spontaneous expression of ''behavioural despair''. When compared with control ''nonwithdrawn'' horses from the same stable, withdrawn horses appeared more indifferent to environmental stimuli in their home environment but reacted more emotionally in more challenging situations. They exhibited lower plasma cortisol levels. Withdrawn horses all belonged to the same breed and females were over-represented. Conclusions/Significance: Horse might be a useful potential candidate for an animal model of depression. Face validity of this model appeared good, and potential genetic input and high prevalence of these disorders in females add to the convergence. At a time when current animal models of depression are questioned and the need for novel models is expressed, this study suggests that novel models and biomarkers could emerge from ethological approaches in home environments."

Wrzucę abstrakt jakby ktoś był ciekawy: "Stress at work, as shown by a number of human studies, may lead to a variety of negative and durable effects, such as impaired psychological functioning (anxiety, depression). Horses share with humans this characteristic of working on a daily basis and are submitted then to work stressors related to physical constraints and/or more ''psychological'' conflicts, such as potential controversial orders from the riders or the requirement to suppress emotions. On another hand, horses may perform abnormal repetitive behaviour (''stereotypies''😉 in response to adverse life conditions. In the present study, we investigated whether the type of work the horses are used for may have an impact on their tendency to show stereotypic behaviour (and its type) outside work. Observations in their box of 76 horses all living in the same conditions, belonging to one breed and one sex, revealed that the prevalence and types of stereotypies performed strongly depended upon the type of work they were used for. The stereotypies observed involved mostly mouth movements and head tossing/nodding. Work constraints probably added to unfavourable living conditions, favouring the emergence of chronic abnormal behaviours. This is especially remarkable as the 23 hours spent in the box were influenced by the one hour work performed every day. To our knowledge, this is the first evidence of potential effects of work stressors on the emergence of abnormal behaviours in an animal species. It raises an important line of thought on the chronic impact of the work situation on the daily life of individuals."

Natomiast to są bardziej rzeczy z zakresu psychologii, niż etologii (choć oczywiście nauki te w pewnych obszarach zajmują się podobnymi rzeczami, dużo tez badań interdyscyplinarnych).

Czy oprócz powyższych publikacji  napotkaliście jakieś ciekawe artykuły, opracowania badań? Dawno nikt się tu nie udzielał, a może znajdzie się kilka osób, które mogą podzielić się chociaż linkiem. Głównie interesują mnie zaburzenia psychiczne u koni.  Najchętniej w języku angielskim, bo w innych językach idzie mi dosyć... słabo  😡 ( na coś po polsku nawet nie liczę 😀 )
